Today, we’re making the easiest Garlic Shrimp recipe. Shrimp is probably the best ingredient for beginners because it cooks in just a few minutes, and it absorbs flavor so well that you don’t even need to marinate it. This dish only takes 5 minutes, but it’s incredibly flavorful and delicious.

Ingredients
-
1 pound of peeled and deveined shrimp
- 8 cloves of garlic, diced
- 1/2 cup of diced cilantro
- 3 Tbsp of diced red chilies
- 2 tbsp of cooking oil
- 1 tbsp of butter (optional, but highly recommended)
- 1/2 tsp of salt or to taste
Directions
Use paper towels to pat the shrimp dry.
- Dice the garlic, cilantro, and red chilies finely. If you can't handle spicy food, use red bell pepper. You can always switch the aromatics around based on your preference, sometimes I use scallion or parsley. It really depends on what I have in my kitchen.
- Preheat a wok on high for 20-30 seconds. Add a drizzle of oil, the diced red chilies, and half of the diced garlic. Stir for a minute or until fragrant. Then toss in the shrimp and continue to cook over medium heat for a few minutes, depending on the size of your shrimp.
- Some of you are probably wondering why I only added half of the garlic? The first half of the garlic will turn golden brown as the shrimp cooks. We will add the rest of the garlic at the end and do the final toss. This is called 金银蒜 in Chinese, which means golden and silver garlic. The deep-fried and fresh garlic provide different aromas. Using both upgrades the dish.
- When the shrimp turn pink, add the cilantro, the rest of the diced garlic, butter, and some salt to taste. Toss thoroughly and serve with white rice or plain noodles.
